Words Create a Spell: Choose Them Well!

Updated: Apr 14

The Power of Words in Our Lives

This phrase I channelled from my Spirit Guides whilst I meditated many years ago. It often rings within my mind when I am with my clients. Clients come to a Psychic Reader with questions, curiosity, or a lack of enthusiasm, which some may term as feeling lost. I have had students who are blind, disabled, and those with aphantasia. For those who do not know, aphantasia is “the inability to form mental images of objects and persons who are not present” (source: Oxford dictionary).

Referring back to the quote, “words create a spell so choose them well!” you will be aware that words are formulated within the mind before they are expressed. Therefore, our responsibility to "choose well" begins with our mindset. Each unique experience of life and the universe stems from our mind.

Manifestation and Mindset

Let me simplify terms so as not to lose you. What you think becomes a form of manifestation in your world. Sometimes that manifestation is obvious, while other times it is purely energetic. I like to utilise the acronym H.O.P.E, which stands for Hold Only Positive Expectations. In times of uncertainty or concern, anxiety and stress do not help us at all! The human body reacts strongly to the cortisol released during these times, making everything seem and feel worse, sometimes leading to panic attacks.

To combat this, you can steady your heartbeat and breath through various methods: meditation, hyper-focusing on something, being creative, or engaging in physical exercise. Taking these actions when feeling under pressure will help you make better decisions, overcome stress, and maintain emotional composure. All magical transformation begins with intent from you. Hence, I say “maintain emotional composure.” I am not suggesting you withhold emotions, but during times of duress, it is essential to manage how you express those feelings to friends, family, and colleagues.

The Importance of Positive Thoughts

The words within your mind, imagination, and daydreams are important to pay attention to. Wherever possible, keep a positive mindset and avoid self-deprecation. If you have unkind thoughts about yourself, you may frequently see reflective numbers, such as 12:21, 13:31, 14:41, 22:22, or 24:24 (there are too many to list here). If you see mirrored numbers regularly, it serves as a reminder that what you hold in your mind affects your external experience of life.

The corporate world and the spiritual world never used to intertwine, but in the last decade, individuals like Bill Gates and Jeff Weiner have embraced the idea that your wealth is your health, and that health begins within the mind and through meditation.

The Ripple Effect of Words

You may have also heard of something called “The Butterfly Effect.” This philosophy suggests that even the tiniest actions can affect the whole universe and those within it. Everything we say creates a ripple effect, impacting all of us. Of course, some words are more powerful than others, but each carries its own energy.

Constructive criticism and penalties have their place in our world, but it is far better to offer encouragement, self-development, and healing. I have many examples to share, but I will recount just one. When I was a teenager, I used to babysit two young boys. At the time, I thought I was just being nice and friendly. We would talk about various interests and hobbies and even make homemade fudge.

A couple of decades later, I attended a concert by a famous singer at the Cheese & Grain, and one of the boys I had babysat was performing as the support act. After his impressive set, he approached me and said, “Thank you for being the person who showed me to be my unique authentic self and follow my passion.” This blew me away, as all I did was be “nice.” Never forget that the patience, understanding, and kindness you show today will ripple out for many years to come.

Communication in Psychic Work

In my profession as a psychic and medium, the way I communicate is essential to my work. I teach students a wide variety of ways to read energy, all while using consciously considered communication. I share my wisdom with the ethics of “words can heal or words can harm.” Again, this serves as a reminder to choose wisely.

Expressing words externally to others is a great responsibility. Consider the teacher at school who saw your weaknesses but chose to focus on your strengths instead. That person has likely had a significant impact on your life.

Historically, influencers were not merely people smiling and selling things on social media; they were philosophers, inventors, designers, and artists. You do not need to be famous, rich, or publicised to be a real influencer of positive mental attitude. All you need to do is meet people.

Exercises to Maintain a Positive Mental Attitude

Here are three exercises that you can use to maintain your positive mental attitude:

  1. Associate Triggers with Colour: Whichever person or word makes you angry or upset, associate it with a colour. Whenever that word triggers you, allow your mind to flood with that colour. Your mind will learn that colour is more powerful than the feelings.

  2. Grounding with Water: When you are emotionally triggered by a word, rather than reacting internally, distract yourself. Go to the nearest water source and wash your hands. The sensation of the water and the grounding effect will calm your mind and body’s reaction.

  3. Breathing Exercise: Walk out of the room into another space, take four long, slow, deep breaths, and then walk back to the original room.

Conclusion: Leaving a Legacy of Kindness

In conclusion, there are many ways you can improve your experience of life and the legacy you leave for others. Some may leave a grand gesture to charity, while others may impart wisdom through a book. Let your legacy be kind words of encouragement, support, and guidance.
